In a Sultaninaexperimental vineyard located at La Platina Experiment Station, Santiago, leaf-K was found to be dependant of available soil water at the 25-50 cm layer. Dry blocks showed poor infiltration probably due to machinery compactation. Ammonium acetate extractable K in soil of non treated plots was similar at different soil levels in all blocks of the vineyard. In the spring of 1973 foliar K levels were not affected by soil applications of K2SO4. At the following season after a rainy winter, leaf K increased everywhere especially in plants treated with K2SO4.
