At the Cauquenes Experiment Station (INIA), the performance of two elderberry cultivars were evaluated, from 1983to 1987. Flowering started the last days of October and full bloom between November 15 and the first days of December. Harvesting time, though variable among years, occurred in February, 10 to 15. Yield reached 2.1 ton/ha (but showed attendency to decrease), and the fruit was of good quality. A good growth rate was observed and no sanitary problems occurred. It was concluded thatthe specie grows and produces underthe area conditions but is not promising option for the agriculture of the area.
