The effect of a systemic fungicide (Benlate 50%) upon Sclerotinia sclerotiorum on sunflower was studied as a preplan ting treatment.
Plants sown on treated soil and untrea ted checks were inoculated at the following stages: bud, flower and fertílized flower. The fungicide was incorporated at arate of 500 ppm previously determined in vitro.
Plant on treated soil were not attacked by Sclerotinia. In the checks, however, the porcentages of diseased plants were the same as those reported in the literature.
It was shown that the fungicide moves in the vascular system of the plant from the root to the inoculation Zone, 5 cm above soil surface.
