Correlations and regression between some of the measured physical properties of nine soils in Santiago province, were carried out. Water contents at different tensions were highly associated and showed correlation coefficients higher than 0.87* significant to P = 0.01.
The following regression equations were determined for the soil water contents atthe different tensions and soil properties.
Field capacity = -0,67 + 1,04 humidity equivalent
r = 0,90*
n = 73
Field capacity = 0,39. + 0,92 0,3 atm.
r = 0,86*
n = 73
Field capacity = 8,64 + 1,12 permanent wilthing percentage
r = 0,87*
n = 73
0,3 atm. = 10,35 + 1,13 permanent wilthing percentage
r = 0,95*
n = 73
Field capacity = 6,06 + 0,60% clay
r = 0,65*
n =73
Permanent wilthing percentage = -2,44 + 0,54% de arcilla
r = 0,72*
n = 73
1 atm. = 4,36 + 0,68 Field capacity
r = 0,86*
n = 73
1 atm. = -0,19 + 0,79 (0,3 atm.)
r = 0,97*
n = 73
This equations allow an estimate of those soil water contents of value in irrigationplanning.
