| The nutritional deficiencies of 51 soil samples, from the province of Llanquihue, are identified in pot experiments with Lolium perenne X Lolium multiflorum. Most of these soil samples come from the plow-depth level. The interpretation of the results is made through a fertility diagram. The intensity of these mineral deficiencies is measured through lines of fertility. they follow a semilogarithmic equation of the form: log Y = log A + mX, where X is the accumulated yield (g/pot) of the complete fertilization treatment, and Y the percentage of yield of the incomplete fertilization treatment. The main deficiencies detected are phosphorus and potassium but a severe scarcity of magnesium and sulphur is also observed. Nitrogen is not studied in theseexperiments.Topographic and permeabilíty factors influence the fertility diagram. Sulphurdeficiency tends to increase in those soils located in the coastal range. Towards theAndes Mountain range, potassium and magnesium becomes more important. Oneexception is presented by "ñadi'' soils where all the nutrients, including micronutrientsand calcium, are scarce with potassium being the predominant deficiency.Soils located on the same fisiographic position of both provinces, Osomo andLlanquihue, behave in the same way.The average válues of coefficient A, calculated for Llanquihue samples, are 38.1;45.7; 96.8; 94.3; 89.2 and 93.1 and for coefficient m: -0.015200; -0.014788;-0.000884; -0.009617; -0.006334 and -0.001993 of the fertility line for phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulphur and the micronutrients (B, Mo, Cu, Znand Mn) respectively. |
