Four chemical mutagens: colchicine, ethyleneimine (EI), ethylmethanesulfonate(EMS) and maleic hydrazide (MH) were used to induce adult plant resistance to a virulent isolate of a biotype similar to that of the classical 15 B (11) of stem rust (Puccinia graminis Pers. f. sp. tritici Eriks. and Henn.) in spring wheat (Triticum aestivumL.), cult. Orofén. Two resistant plants were obtained from 250 coieoptiles treated with colchicine, and1 plant from 50 seeds treated with ethyleneimine (EI).
